Home Building Fund
The government announced that it has launched a £3 billion Home Building Fund to help build more than 25,000 new homes this Parliament and up to 200,000 in the longer term. The fund is targeted at SMEs and Mix will be seeking to secure funds for the delivery of much needed affordable homes.
The number of small businesses delivering homes in the UK has fallen significantly as the cost of getting planning permission has increased, but just under a fifth operate in the construction industry. SMEs need opportunity, not just funding, if the government’s targets are to be met. Mix is therefore pressing for land opportunities to be directed to SMEs rather than the just the large housebuilders so that much needed housing can be delivered.
