Articulation and Privacy

The west facing façade of our proposed Bow E3 scheme has been designed to provide animation, adaptability, privacy and passive solar control. Balconies are extruded out from façade from alternating flats to create a checkerboard effect. The gaps are filled with a lightweight structure resting on the ones below.

The structural forms and moveable screens block views from one balcony to another. The screens also provide shade, privacy and ventilation to the living spaces.

All the balconies are angled in a south westerly direction to create a shield effect and maximise views across the park. Alternate balconies either have a planter to support biodiversity or additional space for the bedrooms.

The balconies are large enough to support a table and chairs and when combined with the living room, create a more generous space.
